The heelside rail-stand dismount is a basic freestyle skateboarding skill which can be bettered with a ‘hippie jump’ technique. This small jump allows for more control and time to prepare for landing. It also helps with future tricks, including rail flips.

Learning walk-the-dog freestyle footwork can be tough, but working on k-walks can help. K-walks, named after Tara Kaylor, are good for mastering balance. While some people might not see their value, they connect your skills and boost your confidence on the board.
