About

Flatlandia isn’t a place: it’s people. We’re passionate freestyle skateboarders who coincidentally call Australia home.

Our mission is to grow and support the Australian freestyle community by connecting, equipping, and inspiring like-minded skaters with everything that we do.

Connect

Since freestyle does not require skateparks, we freestylers can miss out on the organic connections made at such spaces.

Online, there’s a wonderful global community of practitioners, but sometimes it’s just good to skate with friends.

We want to help people find their crew. So if you’re in Australia and you freestyle, let us connect you.

Equip

Some tricks can be done on a popsicle board, but the majority of freestyle works best on a specialised setup. Unfortunately, not only does this mean a different-shaped deck, but also skid plates, offset wheels, and or stiffer bushings, niche products that aren’t stocked at local skate shops.

While online suppliers have improved access to parts, Australia’s geographic isolation makes freestyle unaffordable for most. Shipping from Europe or the US can cost more than an actual skateboard.

We want this to change. Freestyle gear without the exorbitant shipping costs is what we ask for.

Inspire

The current model for learning freestyle is online. Content is spread over a range of sites and platforms, which can be difficult to navigate.

Our goal is to streamline access to this knowledge, as well as build upon it with our own.

Sometimes it’s easier to be shown in person though, so we also aim to foster regular gatherings in the real world where we can learn from and be inspired by each other.

In the future, we envisage freestyle-trained skate instructors so that the passion can be passed on to the next generation.
